GE-12: The Aftermath
Malaysian 12th general election process has ended. The tribes have spoken! The dust is still hovering. It is normal for any competition, there would be losers and winners. By the way, this time around, the results shocked all (or almost all) participants and observers. It is a very strong wake up call to everyone, especially those who ignored the tapings on the shoulders too many times, for so long. This time the wake up call is no more shoulder tapings, but a hit by a truck coupled with hate tsunami from the ocean of people.
A few vital points that I pen down here may worth thinking:
1. The biggest losers, the BN, need to do a lot of soul searching.
2. The winners, notably PAS, DAP and PKR have to plan to deliver.
3. The biggest winners, the people, should not easily feel contented, and too trusting to those they had voted in.
4. PAS will have to deal with the realities of managing a multi-racilal, multi-religous states. Kelantan's experience is not of much help to deal in Selangor and Perak. It is true that they are not the majority, but they are part of the loose management/ruling party. A training for bigger Malaysia?
It is a history of sort. Someone said it is a new dawn for the country. I would rather say it is a sharp corner. We do not know what lies just behind the corner! The visionists, the strategists, the planners, wake up!
Though many people said it is 'the people' against the hated government, I say racial politics had expressed itself loudly. Just read between the lines, listen to the speeches, observe the voting trend and understand the reasons of doing so. I believe, the vote was not for the vision. The vote was to express hate. I shall not dwell too deep on this, but suffice to say that, on the whole context for the long term Malaysia, for my perspective, I am sad.
Abezzi.
